About GE appliances
GE Appliances has been in Canadian kitchens for generations and is now owned by Haier, which has broadened the range considerably. The GE Profile and Cafe lines sit above the core range, and Cafe in particular is common in newer Lower Mainland builds.
GE appliances are among the easiest to get parts for in Canada. The older Camco-built machines still turning up in Vancouver homes are simple, robust and very repairable; newer electronically controlled models report faults as F codes on the display.
What tends to fail, in our experience
- Water inlet valves on fridges with ice and water dispensers
- Lid lock assemblies on top-load washers
- Oven temperature sensors, reported as F3 or F4
- Touchpad and control faults on ranges, reported as F7
- Drain pumps on dishwashers and washers

GE repair — common questions
What does F7 mean on my GE range?
A key on the touchpad is shorted or stuck, so the control thinks a button is being held down. It is usually the membrane panel rather than the main board.
Do you still service older Camco-built GE appliances?
Yes. Those machines are mechanically simple and very repairable, and parts are still available for most of them.
Is GE Cafe different to service?
Cafe uses the same mechanical platforms as GE Profile with different trim and controls, so diagnosis is the same. The cosmetic parts cost more.
How much does the repair cost?
You get a firm quote after diagnosis and you approve it before any work starts. If we cannot fix the appliance, you do not pay.
