What we repair in North Vancouver
Refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges and wall ovens, in homes and apartments across North Vancouver.
What usually goes wrong, appliance by appliance, from the Lonsdale apartments to the homes up the slope.
Wall oven repair in North Vancouver
Built-in wall ovens in older North Vancouver kitchens are often fitted into cabinetry that was never meant to come apart, so removing the oven safely is half the job, and we schedule enough time not to rush it. Once it is out, the usual faults are a failed bake or broil element, a temperature sensor reading wrong, or a door lock stuck after self-clean. Double wall ovens in Lynn Valley and Edgemont renovations carry two sets of these parts, so tell us which cavity has the problem. Most of these repairs are finished on the first visit.

Gas ranges and cooktops are common in North Vancouver’s detached homes, and in BC every repair on a gas appliance must be carried out by a licensed gas technician; ours hold that certification. Typical gas faults are a burner that clicks but won’t ignite, a flame that is weak or lifting off the burner, or an oven that won’t light. On electric ranges in the Lonsdale apartments, surface elements and the switches that control them are the usual repairs. If a steep or narrow driveway makes access tricky, mention it when you book.

Garburators in North Vancouver kitchens range from new units in Lonsdale condos to ones that have sat under the sink of a Lynn Valley house for twenty years. Older units tend to fail by leaking from the base or losing grinding power as the impellers wear, and replacing them is usually better value than repair. Newer ones mostly jam. Running cold water while it operates and keeping fibrous peels and grease out of it prevents many of those jams. We price the job before starting either way.

In older North Vancouver homes, the refrigerator is often a long-serving model, and the real question is the sealed system: if the compressor and refrigerant circuit are sound, a fan, defrost heater or thermostat repair gives it years more. If the sealed system has failed, our technicians can repair it, but on an older fridge we will tell you when replacement is the better value. Compact and panel-ready fridges in the newer apartments mostly fail at the condenser fan or a control, and have to be slid out of their opening first.

North Vancouver homes split between full-size laundry in detached houses and compact stacked pairs in the Lonsdale apartments. Full-size top-loaders typically need a drive belt, a lid switch or a drain pump; front-loaders a door boot, a lock or a bearing, the last usually announced by a roar on the spin cycle. With the stacked pairs, the dryer has to be lifted down to reach the washer, which we plan for. Mention any stairs or a steep driveway at booking so we can plan the visit.

Dishwashers in renovated North Vancouver kitchens are often built in tightly, so we check how the unit is fixed to the counter before sliding it out. The repairs themselves are familiar: a drain pump or filter when water stays in the tub, an inlet valve when it won’t fill, a heating element when dishes come out wet and cold, and a door latch when the cycle won’t start. Pumps and valves for the common models are on the van, which is why most dishwasher calls here finish on the first visit.

North Vancouver covers both the City and the District, and the appliance work reflects that: newer apartments along the Lonsdale corridor, and older detached homes climbing the slope behind them.
The older housing is where most of the interesting work is. Kitchens that have been renovated around existing appliances, built-in wall ovens in cabinetry that was not designed to come apart, and gas ranges that need a licensed fitter are all normal here.
What we see most in North Vancouver homes
- Built-in wall ovens in older cabinetry, where access is half the job
- Gas ranges and cooktops — BC requires a licensed gas fitter, which we have on staff
- Full-size laundry in detached homes, and compact stacked pairs in the Lonsdale apartments
- Older refrigeration where the sealed system decides whether repair is worthwhile
- Steep or narrow driveway access, worth mentioning when you book
Why North Vancouver homeowners call us
What our technicians bring
- Sealed-system and compressor work, so a fridge that is not cooling does not automatically become a replacement
- Gas-certified technicians on staff — a BC licence requirement for any gas appliance, not an optional extra
- We read service modes and stored fault history, not just the code on the front panel

North Vancouver appliance repair — common questions
Do you cover both the City and the District of North Vancouver?
Yes, both, along with West Vancouver.
Can you work on a built-in wall oven?
Yes. Built-ins usually have to come out of the cabinetry, which we allow time for rather than rushing.
How much does the repair cost?
You get a firm quote after diagnosis and you approve it before any work starts. If we cannot fix the appliance, you do not pay.
What warranty do you offer?
Every repair carries a 90-day parts and labour warranty.
Our Deep Cove driveway is steep and narrow. Is access a problem?
It is worth mentioning when you book. Steep approaches are common from Deep Cove up through Blueridge and Seymour, and knowing in advance lets us park sensibly and bring the right trolley rather than improvising.
Do you work on gas ranges and cooktops on the North Shore?
Yes, with licensed gas fitters on staff. Gas is common in the older detached homes above Lonsdale, and BC law does not allow a general appliance technician to work on it.
Can you reach Lynn Valley and Edgemont the same day?
Often, if you call in the morning. Both are straightforward runs for us. Bridge traffic is the main variable, so we give you an arrival window rather than a single time.
