About LG appliances
LG is one of the two Korean manufacturers that reshaped the North American appliance market, and in the Lower Mainland it is now one of the brands we are called to most. Its signature engineering is the Direct Drive motor in the laundry line, which couples the motor straight to the drum instead of using a belt, and the Linear Inverter compressor in refrigeration.
Both carry a long manufacturer warranty on the part itself, often ten years. That is worth checking before you decide between repair and replacement, because the motor or compressor may be covered even when the board or sensor that actually failed is not.
What tends to fail, in our experience
- Drain pumps on front-load washers, the most common LG laundry call we take
- Rotor position sensors on Direct Drive washers, which show as an LE code
- Linear compressors on 2015–2020 refrigerators, a known weak point of that generation
- Defrost heaters on French-door fridges, reported as Er dH
- Door hinges and gaskets on heavily used fridge doors

If your appliance is showing one of these, quote it when you call — it usually tells us which part to bring.
Washers
| OE | Not draining. Pump filter first, then the drain pump. |
| IE | Not filling. Taps, screens or the inlet valve. |
| UE | Unbalanced. If it repeats empty, suspect the suspension. |
| dE | Door not locking. |
| LE | Motor locked — often the rotor position sensor on direct drive. |
| tE | Thermistor out of range. |
Dryers
| d80 / d90 / d95 | Vent restricted by that percentage. A duct problem. |
| tE1 / tE2 | Thermistor fault. |
| AE | Control communication error. |
| nP / PS | Power supply fault — one leg of the 240V feed. |
Refrigerators
| Er FF | Freezer fan circuit. |
| Er dH | Defrost heater did not complete a cycle. |
| Er IF | Ice maker fan. |
| Er CO | Compressor or inverter board communication. |

Dishwashers

LG repair — common questions
My LG fridge stopped cooling but the lights still work. Is it the compressor?
Often, yes. LG linear compressors from roughly 2015 to 2020 are a known failure point, and many are still inside LG's ten-year compressor warranty. We will identify it and tell you if you should claim through LG rather than pay us.
What does LE mean on my LG washer?
The motor is locked or the rotor position sensor is misreading. On Direct Drive machines it is usually the sensor rather than the motor, which is a far cheaper repair.
Are LG parts available locally?
Yes. LG is one of the better-supported brands in the Lower Mainland and we carry the common drain pumps, sensors and door locks on the van.
How much does the repair cost?
You get a firm quote after diagnosis and you approve it before any work starts. If we cannot fix the appliance, you do not pay.
