About IKEA appliances
IKEA does not manufacture appliances. Its kitchen lines are built by established manufacturers to IKEA specification and sold under IKEA names like Lagan, Tillreda, Vinstgivande and Finsmakare. In North America most have been built by Whirlpool.
This matters for repair. The badge on the door tells you very little, but the model and serial plate inside the door tells us who built it and therefore which parts fit. Once identified, these are ordinary machines to service.
What tends to fail, in our experience
- Door hinges and mounting brackets on integrated units, which take the weight of a cabinet door
- Drain pumps on dishwashers and washers
- Heating elements on dishwashers
- Oven temperature sensors
- Fridge door gaskets on panel-ready models
Why our team is comfortable with IKEA
Trained on the systems that matter
- Sealed-system and compressor work, so a fridge that is not cooling does not automatically become a replacement
- Gas-certified technicians on staff for gas IKEA cooking appliances — a BC licence requirement, not an optional extra
- Direct-drive and belt-drive laundry, including bearing, suspension and drive faults
- We read service modes and stored fault history, not just the code on the front panel
Parts, and first-visit repairs
- We carry the common IKEA wear parts — pumps, locks, sensors, elements and belts — on the van
- That stock is why roughly 90% of our jobs finish on the first visit
- Anything we do not carry is ordered the same day from Lower Mainland distributors
- Every repair carries a 90-day parts and labour warranty
Built on the Whirlpool and other OEMs platform
IKEA appliances are built by other manufacturers, most commonly Whirlpool in North America. We identify the builder from the data plate before quoting, because that determines both the parts and the fault codes. The IKEA model name on its own is not enough to order against.
IKEA repair — common questions
Who actually makes IKEA appliances?
Several manufacturers depending on the model and the year. In North America most have been Whirlpool-built. We check the data plate inside the door to be certain.
Can you get parts for an IKEA appliance?
Usually, once we identify the builder. That is the first thing we do, because ordering against the IKEA name alone often fails.
My integrated IKEA dishwasher door drops open. Is that the hinge?
Normally the hinge springs or cables, which wear faster on integrated units because they carry the extra weight of the cabinet panel.
How much does the repair cost?
You get a firm quote after diagnosis and you approve it before any work starts. If we cannot fix the appliance, you do not pay.
Do you cover my area?
We cover Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, from West Vancouver through to Agassiz, seven days a week between 8am and 8pm.
